Why the name Policoro?

The company’s name, Policoro Consulting, was inspired by our founder’s Aunt Jane. Jane was an elementary school teacher in the St.  Louis County (Missouri) who often took sabbaticals and vacations to visit missionary friends overseas.  Policoro, a small city in Southern Italy with a long and rich history, was a frequent destination. When she visited, Jane drew on her background as an educator and musician to help her friends and the communities they served.  She helped children learn reading and math.  She led music in worship services.  She even cleaned the building.  When asked, Jane would say that she liked to use her abilities so that others could accomplish their goals.

The name Policoro reminds us of that attitude.  We want to use our expertise, skills, knowledge, creativity and connections to help others preserve and present their culture, heritage, and history.  That is at the heart of all we do.
